2007 Recipients

Our first round of awards have been presented. Meet our first recipients:

IFP's Amy Dotson, Eunhee Cho - the recipient of the inaugural Adrienne Shelly Director's grant for her new film Inner Cirlce Line - and IFP Executive Director Michelle Byrd.

Maryam Keshavarz (l), winner of the inaugural Adrienne Shelly Foundation Women Filmmakers Grant at The Sundance Institute, along with Michelle Satter, Founding Director, Sundance Feature Film Program. Maryam participated in both the 2007 January Screenwriting Lab and the 2007 June Directing and Screenwriting Labs with her project Circumstance.

Andy Ostroy with Pamela Johnson. Pamela is the winner of the Adrienne Shelly Foundation Production Grant at the American Film Institute's 2007 Directing Workshop for Women.

Andy Ostroy and Enrica Perez. Erica is the writer/director of Taxista and winner of the Adrienne Shelly Award for Best Female Director at Columbia University's 2007 graduate film program.

Cynthia Wade, Director/Camera, Freeheld, and winner of the 2007 Adrienne Shelly Foundation Grant from the Women in Film Finishing Fund. We congratulate Cynthia for her February 2008 Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Subject. Additionally, it won a Special Jury Prize at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival, and will soon be seen on Cinemax and released on DVD. Cynthia is a NYC-based documentary filmmaker, and has worked for HBO, PBS, Cinemax, Discovery, MTV, A&E, Oxygen, TNT, AMC, and The History Channel, as well as many nonprofit and corporate clients.

2008 Recipients

Andy Ostroy and Marissa O'Guinn. Marissa is the recipient of The Adrienne Shelly Foundation Scholarship at New York University Tisch School of the Arts, Maurice Kanbar Institute of Film and Television

Madeleine Olnek (l), writer/director of "Countertransference," and winner of the 2008 Adrienne Shelly Foundation Award for Best Female Director at Columbia University's graduate film program, along with Annette Insdorf (r), Director of Undergraduate Film Studies

Dia Sokol, winner of the IFP Adrienne Shelly Foundation Director's Grant and Andy Ostroy. Dia received this award for her relationship comedy Sorry Thanks.

Nanette Burstein, recipient of the Adrienne Shelly Foundation Excellence in Filmmaking Award, presented at the Nantucket Film Festival in June, for her gripping documentary American Teen.

Emily Abt, winner of the Adrienne Shelly Foundation Grant from the Women in Film Finishing Fund, for her riveting H.I.V documentary All of Us.

2009 Recipients

Andy Ostroy with Lauren Wolkstein, director of Cigarette Candy, and winner of the Adrienne Shelly Award for Best Female Director at Columbia University's graduate film program.

Emily Deschanel, former Tribeca Film Institute CEO Brian Newman, Ana Lily Amirpour and Andy Ostroy at the TFI Awards Ceremony in May.  Ana Lily is the recipient of the Inaugural Adrienne Shelly Foundation Screenwriting Fellowship for her project, The Stones.

Nantucket Film Festival Artistic Director Mystelle Brabbee, Chairman Jill Burkhart, Cherien Dabis, Andy Ostroy and Cheryl Hines. Cherien is the recipient of the Adrienne Shelly Foundation Excellence in Filmmaking Award for her debut film Amreeka, which opened in theatres in September.

Dee Rees, winner of the Adrienne Shelly Foundation Women Filmmakers Grant at the Sundance Institute for her project Pariah.

Andy Ostroy, Christina Beck and Cherly Hines at the December 3rd premiere of Serious Moonlight, presenting Christina with the 2009 IFP/Adrienne Shelly Foundation Directors Grant for her film Perfection.
