The film follows the sexual odyssey of a Bronx teenager forced to choose between losing her best friend and destroying her family. "Circumstance," written and directed by Maryam, is about a wealthy Iranian family's struggle to contain a teenager's sexual rebellion and her brother's frightening obsession. It stars Nikohl Boosheri, Sarah Kazemy, Reza Sixo Safai, Soheil Parsa, Nasrin Pakkho.

"Joan Rivers - A Piece of Work" (http://www.joanriversapieceofwork.com) (2010) which the pair co-directed, Ricki Stern, is now on VOD and will be released December 7th on DVD following a very successful theatrical release by IFC. Their new project "Burma Soldier" (http://www.breakthrufilms.org/burma-soldier) recently premiered at Sheffield DocFest and is playing at IDFA 2010, and will be broadcast on HBO in May 2011.
